Goals and Aims

The Ecological Production Systems Unit works on ecological production, food and the sustainable rural development.  More specific its work relates to the:

• Design, developing and disseminating ecological production systems.

• Agronomic, environmental and socio-economic impact assessment of food production systems.

• The development of organic farming methods for Mediterranean semi arid conditions.

The Unit collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of scientists.  The team consists of agronomists, agroecologists, ecologists, economists and sociologists. The unit has experience on national and international projects related to the above topics.

Dr. Emmanouil Kabourakis (MSc, PhD), who coordinates the unit, has experience on applied agroecology, sustainable rural development and ecological food production systems (organic, low input and integrated farming systems).
